A Victorian Gentleman and his Museum Oronhyatekha adopted a lifestyle befitting a successful, Oxford-trained physician. As all good Victorians did, Dr. O. collected. During his travels as Supreme Chief Ranger, Oronhyatekha collected an enormous variety of curios, artifacts and natural specimens.
The Oronhyatekha Historical Rooms and Library, situated in The Temple Building, Toronto, were opened to the public in September of 1902. Of the over 800 pieces in the Oronhyatekha Historical Collection, many objects symbolized First Nations sovereignty and international relationships.
